So I used to think this was pink eye but it has happened now about 4 times this year in my right eye without any mucus or runniness. Its just bright red ALLOVER, doesnt really feel overly dry, sort of burns but its not really itchy  , not swollen either like pink eye.Its not scratched either because it doesnt feel gritty or like sand is in my eye. There is not a huge amount of pain just a lil discomfort and a bright red eye where it should be white and only in one eye.  Just bright red!  Goes away in a few days but comes back every few months with no other allergy like or cold symptoms this is how I know its not pink eye. This is new for me this year. I am concerned about this along with the floaters and lil black spots I am seeing in my vision. I think its time to call the opthalmologist. If the opthalmologist can't see me right away should I take a picture of my eyes??? to show the difference in the eye how one is bright red and the other is normal?? .. its always my right eye. Because there is nothing more frustrating than when you tell a new doctor about a symptom you have had and they are like "yeah sure" because the day you come in you look totally fine because that symptom decided to go away that day.  aggressive
Another wierd thing.. I often did rub that right eye in the past.. and never did spread to the left eye and as I hear pink eye is super contagious from rubbing your eyes so its easily spread from one eye to the other. Also no one else close to me has ever gotten this supposed "pink eye" from me. hmmm...

have you burst a blood vessel perhaps ? Strangely my right eye is always red for the most part.
I'd go get it seen to if it stays.
