I've been having hair loss since 2006, vitilago since 2008, joint pain since Feb 2010, miscarriage 2010. All tests are coming back normal. I've been in constant joint pain or having joints pop and make a grinding sound since last Feb. The doctors have given up on me telling me to wait for more symptoms since the tests are normal. But now my 7 yr old is getting the joint pain and has the popping noise. Every day he's crying about it and his appt is still 2 wks away for the specialist. His blood tests came back normal. I get so sad hearing him cry "ow, my leg, my leg."  He's also had pnemonia 2 times in the last 8 months and the doctor said one more time he gets it, we will have to find out what's causing it.

We were living in old military housing in 2006 when the hair loss started. I also had memory problems. I would forget stuff on the stove. And once I forgot to pick up my son at his kiddie campus class on base and my husband had to do it. The doctors said I was stressed and the hair loss was from having kids or being pregnant or nursing. My daughter started losing hair. My new baby had respiratory infections soon after coming home from the hospital. The kids would have runny noses in the house and it would clear up soon after leaving and then start up when we went back in.  The baby next to our home in the duplex stopped breathing and the ambulance had to come. I bought mold tests and showed them to the congressman and senator and they contacted the military and wanted answers. The military hired someone to do mold testing which showed we had mold in our kitchen ceiling. They said to clean out so many feet past where the mold was seen on the wood in the ceiling but they only got a little area. They didn't get professionals. They got the base handymen who hung plastic, opened the ceiling and removed the mold and then closed it back up. We were in the house the whole time. Our symptoms didn't improve so I bought and expensive $150 radon detector and the levels came back so high they said we had to leave that night or we were accepting those levels. We stayed in the hotel on base for 6 weeks and my hair started growing back. The baby breathed quietly from the first night. Everybody was fine. We went back and it started again. There were no more tests I could find to buy to test  for chemicals or other things.

We have been away from that base for 18 months now and in a home off  base. I've never gotten better. My hair is still thin. My daughter is still losing hair. I don't know if we brought the mold with us. I don't know if it's because what we were exposed to is still in our system. I'm fed up with doctors. The miscarriage was the last straw and I made a complaint about my doctor for not listening to me and letting me go with 8 months of everyday wrist pain with no MRI. I've got loss of feeling on my back. I'm pregnant now and have already bled heavily twice. I'm only 10 weeks this time but am afraid every time I go to the bathroom there will be more blood. I've had 6 healthy pregnancies. It's just every symptom I get stays and soon another symptom comes. But my son is so young. We need to find out what is wrong. He cries when he walks. It just makes me have to hold back tears. What test can I ask for for something that caused all this from mold or military chemicals?

Oh dear I wish I had the answer to your question as I live on a military base right now myself. I could maybe find out for you??? it's worth a shot... I am sorry your going through all of this!

I have been fed up with doctors for years, actually since I was a young child and I am now 30. I am finding that after 12 years of being very frustrated at doctors I took my health into my own hands. I started a few years ago collected ALL of my medical records. Mostly all my labs and tests. I had a variety of labs that were abnormal but over looked but at the same time not enough for a solid answer. So after two years I finally recently had another blood panel done that give me some FANTASTIC clues and I feel like finally after 12 years of searching that I am close to finding the answer AND I was the one that did all the doctor's work basically. So don't give up. I know there have been times when the blood work was abnormal and i felt not well but it wasn't enough for anything to be diagnosed so I pressed on. Let another year pass.. got frustrated, shed some tears but then got back on my feet again. I would try to ignore my symptoms but they are just too much to ignore. If you feel the same you have you have to do all the work yourself. Which is so sad these days!

Well I am rambling but I wanted to say welcome.. and sorry your going through hard times! you have found the right place though.. promise!  Huge Hug

But... why?! I think I am one step closer to that answer ON my own. Your are your own advocate for your health! No one can tell you how you can or can't feel!
