hello, my name is megan. I will be 21 in a couple of weeks. I've been sick and unable to work or do much of anything for over 2 years, and I have no answers or a diagnosis yet.
Please tell me if you have any questions, comments or ideas. I am quite lost and stuck with no diagnosis other than a reactivation of EBV.
here is a list of my current symptoms
in no order
-constant fatigue
-weakness
-muscle pain/weakness
-joint pain/ cracking popping
-loss of appite
-wheight loss
-very swollen lymph nodes everywhere/lumps and bumps/growths on my lymphnodes
-itching, mostly on my neck and under arms
-night sweats
-back pain
-neck pain/ sensitivity
-chest pain
-headaches
-frequent urination
-clumsiness
-forgetful
-brain fog
-& my most recent & visable symptom, vertical ridges on all my finger nails, they are very deep and apeared on all my finger nails within one week, I also lost my cuiticles on each finger nail. my finger nails look like raisens.

I am currently seeing a dr at a clinic. I have crappy insurance but will have blue sheild in july of 2011, once I get the better insurance my dr wants to send me to a specialist in S.F california, untill then we are just trying to rule things out. so far this is the list of things that have been ruled out, that I can remeber, theres probably more.
-brain tumor
-STD's
-lupus
-TB
-parisites
-thyroid
-vitamin deficiency
-celiac disease/gluten allergy

tests I rember having in the last 2+ years
in no order

-many many blood test that I can't name or remember at this time.
-MRI of head and neck( they said nothing abnormal other than all my lymph nodes are more than three the size they should be.
-MRI of my lower back
-CT scan of abdoman and pelvis
-4 chest X RAYS
-2 gastric emtying studies
-EGD/upper GI and small bowel
-lower GI
-Ultrasound of left breast

Currently I am waiting to see my dr on the 6th of january. I was sent to get a biopsy of one of the lumps/growths on my neck/lymph node, to check for lymphoma. but the guy I saw refused to do the biopsy and his reason was that I am too young and beautiful to have a huge scar on my neck. I left in tears, I have always thought lymphoma is a big possibility and had already waiting three weeks to see this guy who took one look at me and said no. that was three weeks ago and I'm still waiting to see my dr, so I can see what to do now, he also order a PET scan for me but I need the biopsy first and I guess around here only one place does them but wont do one for me because they have a fued with the hospital I go to. there are only two hospitals where I live (humboldt county california). I hope that I can soon find out if I have lymphoma or not, no matter the results it would just be nice to know.
thank you for reading and I hope someone out there can help sugjest something to me to be tested for, my current doctor is a very nice guy and told me last time I saw him that if I want to be tested for anything just tell him what and why. no doctor has ever said that to me or told me everytime i see them that im not crazy, as he does. now that I have a chance to bring something to the table and rule something out that I can think of, nothing comes to mind, lymphoma was the one thing I wanted to be tested for and he took the words right out of mouth, so any thoughts or sugjestions would be very nice. thank you
-megan

this really sucks, I guess I got my hopes up to have someone to talk to who might understand, someone to relate to, hell just someone to talk to would be nice. I live with my dad, brother, and boyfriend. they have no idea how to listen or support me with all this so I dont burrden them with what I feel... would be nice to have someone.... :/
, I have been on my own this whole time anyway, no reason I shouldnt be able to handle it as I always have, alone....

hi, i'm sorry i just read your post. Have you been tested for lyme disease? your symptoms sound a lot like late stage lyme. That's what I was diagnosed with. I recommend you make an appointment with an LLMD ( lyme literate medical doctor) just to check and be sure. It has been referred to as " the great imitator" because it can mimic a lot of different diseases such as lupus, MS,psychiatric,ALS,Rheumatoid arthritis etc. You have to be careful what kind of testing you get done though if you're interested in checking for it. There isn't a certain test that is 100% accurate. It's more of a multitude of tests put together and a clinical background diagnosis.60% of the tests come back with false negative results and doctors debate about how to treat it.If you have any questions let me know. I'd be glad to help in any way if i can Smile
