I have FINALLY gotten a solid diagnosis! After 16 months of changed diagnosis, constant pain and unanswered questions.THANK GOD! I went to see dr. bernard raxlen in NY on friday after sending him my lab results testing for lyme disease, coinfections and a SPECT scan testing for brain swelling. He was extremely knowledgeable and listened to the whole story ( most drs.only listen to the first 10 minutes.) My SPECT scan results showed that i had brain swelling which was probably the cause of my short term memory problems. My bloodwork showed that I was positive for lyme and 2 coinfections. After hearing my story dr.raxlen said I had a classic case of late stage lyme and was shocked that I hadn't been tested before.I start antibiotic treatment soon. I'll be on 5 different oral antibiotics for 1 month. After 1 month of the oral antibiotics i'll have surgery to have a port installed in my chest so i can hook up to IV antibiotics easily and not get a yeast infection. He estimated that i had been infected years ago, it just hadn't gotten debilitating until 16 months ago. Unfortunately, he also said this could just be part of the problem and there could be a multitude of other problems going on at the same time. He estimated that I'd be  in treatment for about 1 yr. and that i was one of the more extreme cases that he'd had. I don't mind though, I'm just glad I know what direction to go in with treatment. I WILL BEAT THIS! Big Grin

yes this is fantastic news!!!!! Big Grin its okay, i know you've got a lot on your hands with a new baby, keeping up this site and your own health issues! i do feel like there is some hope now Smile treatment hasn't been that great though..you're supposed to feel worse before you feel better and i'm definitely getting a taste of that. I had portacath(that thing is so annoying! i can't lay on my stomach with that needle and all those tubes coming out of my chest!) surgery on jan.14th and i now do self infusions daily and have at home nursing care weekly.Battling the insurance company is never any fun either..but i'm pulling through and am SO glad i have some answers. I'm hoping this is the beginning of the end of this horror story Smile
