Guess what? I own my own assist dog org! Extraordinary Dogs Assisting Lives. 2 trainers, 2 new members, one 'dog in training' and all the supplies I've bought(stretched my savings though!). We're based in a PO Box in MT Waverley. It is costly to begin with, but if you spread that cost over travelling all over the state, training, equipment, supply of a successor dog, training, feeding and all vet check costs while the dog is in training, it's actually damn cheap. We're getting no funding from anywhere, we specialize in mental health dogs, mobility dogs and medical response dogs, and check up annually as well as training journals sent in to me monthly.
