Hi Everyone—
This is my first post and I have no idea how to "chat" online...might have stupid questions! Anyway, I'm considering going to see Dr. Bolte. I'm in Houston and found cheap airfare—like $500 round trip. His standard 60-minute consultations are $290, then there would be hotel costs, food, etc....I really don't have the money but I am desperate for answers and relief!!!
For over a year I have had stabbing painful abdominal cramping, vomiting and diarreah about every two weeks. Last year I had emergency surgery to straighten out my bowel, which is abnormal and not attached to my abdominal wall. It's just flopping around like an angry water wiggle. At the time of surgery I had developed a cecal bascule which is when the intestine is kinked; mine was a 45 degree angle...no food could get in or out, and if the intestine stays kinked for long enough, it will develop gangrene and kill you—nice. The surgeon straightened it out but my stomach has a 6 inch scar and a new muffin top of fat...sexy. I know I sound cynical and I'm sorry but I'm just worn out from all of the pain, doctors visits, bills, tests for everything known to man, and no diagnosis.
The last GI I went to said that he was going to conclude that this was all caused by anxiety...what?! I think he's crazy but I'll try all of the anti-anxiety drugs and see what that does...so far nothing. I missed my grandson's first Christmas because I got sick right before I was supposed to travel to see my family. I'm truly down about that. I hope I feel good enough to go for New Years.
That's why I want to go see Dr. Bolte. Has anyone else seen him?
Thanks for any info! Trishmc

Hi Trish Will you please calm down!! You've told us that you've had abdominal cramps for a year, then you told us about the surgery last year. Did the surgery fix the cramps, or was that the start of your problems? You haven't been suffering nearly as long as some of us have, depressing news isn't it?
Calm down, slow down, and start again. You obviously think that if your bowel and intestines are fixed surgically, something's causing these problems. Anxiety certainly seems to be one of your problems. Don't worry about length of the post, the forum can handle it!
I'm 155cm and 100kgs, now that's not sexy! Nevertheless, I have 2 guys 'fighting' over me. When you calm down, you'll know, life goes on whether you're 100% or not. Live every day like it's your last...I have for the last 6 months, and I'm very happy!

Sorry to say that he never returned my phone call...I need complete accountability from people in my life to stay calm as anxiety plays a big role in my med issues, sooooooo, I'm afraid I'm scratching Dr. B off my list of possibilities.
Wish you luck if you call him!! TrishMc

Trishmc did you manage to get an appointment with Dr. Bolte I'm keen to hear from anyone who's seen him I came across this question and wanted to respond even though it's an old post. I was sad to see the original poster did not pursue Dr. Bolte further due to perceived accountability issues. I am a patient of Dr. Bolte's and for the first time in 10 years I am starting to feel better. I won't go into my story - that would be an essay - but for now I'll sum it up that I have had severe pain and have been in a wheelchair with no diagnosis and no interest from the medical community, including Mayo Clinic. I am now looking forward to recovering 100% and it's because of Dr. Bolte entirely. Here's the deal. Dr. Bolte is lousy at phone contact. He sounds gruff and uncaring, aloof at best, and you have to chase him a bit to get him on the phone and make an appointment. HE IS WORTH THIS ANNOYANCE. He does not have any office staff at all and gets tons of calls all day that he has to handle. A lot of them are from idiots (I've heard him answer one or two of those while in his office!) as one might expect having been splashed over the internet as "The Real Dr. House". If you have truly gone to doctor after doctor and are desperate for help, then he his worth his weight in gold. You have to prepare yourself for his phone manner. But that's a small price to pay for finally finding someone who BELIEVES EVERY SYMPTOM and WANTS TO HEAR IT ALL. He is fine in person - actually he's a fascinating individual - and his phone manner does not carry to his in-person manner. I hope my posting this might help someone who is on the fence about going to him. And I truly hope that if the original poster is still suffering, she will get over her need for "accountability" - however legitimate that is in her day to day life - and just do what it takes to see him.
