So the day is finally almost here. I made this appt. back in June with my GP.. what a freaking wait!! it better be worth it!! what I DO know: I have an extremely low IGF-1 and will most likely need growth hormone injections for that..  then I have a few reproductive hormones that are low.. and insulin. We will see what happens on thursday. I will keep you posted. My district manager has the same endo and had said he had a horrible bedside manner but we will see. Maybe that is the type of doctor I need at this point. Wish me luck. I will post about the appt as soon as I get home no matter how dissapointed I am in if any of the answers he gives me or doesnt give me. Trying to stay positive.

So I just got back from the endocrinologist appt.

It was very true.. the doctor is very dry. Has no sense of humor or personality but oh well. I did get him to crack a smile one time only for a second but he is pretty down to business so thats good.
He said he was very happy with the blood work that was allready done by my family doctor so he was impressed by that all I need to do now is the gluten tolerance test.. showing that I have reactive hypoglycemia which I know I do... that and then more blood work the thyroid anitbodies like Jenny had and B12 levels which I had checked not that long ago.. and sedation.

Then on december 9th  I go in for a Insulin Tolerance Test to test out my growth hormone/pituatary gland so.. really MORE waiting. This doctor is not quick and easy to see. So that sucks but I guess I can wait. In the meantime he told me to get those other tests done.. the blood work and gluten tolerance testing and if anything abnormal shows up there he would call me sooner to discuss THOSE results.

So yah.. I will probably go to the hospital across the street from my doctors appt to get those gluten test and blood work done next wednesday.

So that was that.. not much closer to answers and more waiting..  aggressive Confused

I thought glucose testing was just drinking sugary water and them taking the blood 20mins later. What's so bad about that?

yes MUCH different. I had to stay there for 6 hours.

First they make you drink this nasty really REALLY sugary sweet drink within 5 minutes and if you throw it up you have start all over again! ugh I almost puked a few times, so then after you get it down you feel nauseas for about an hour because you have all the sugar in your empty stomach because they have you fast for 10-12 hours.

So then every hour they draw blood, so basically I got my arm stuck with a needled 7 times total. However I had some other blood work done too for thyroid antibodies etc...

so the first draw was an hour later and then two hours later.. you get the point.. hourly. BUT I HAVE HYPOGLYCEMIA.. so by the third hour and third draw i was feel like C R A P.  Then by hour four I was actually "seeing" things and by the fifth hour I was shaking so bad and near passing out it was terrible.

So then whenever I let my blood sugar drop that low for too long its really really hard for me to recover for the rest of the day. I have mental fuzziness and confusion and exhaustion all day long after that. So no it definately was not fun especially since I am hypoglycemic. boo.

so that sucks.. all my tests from last week were "acceptable" which I have a hard time believing since I was seeing things towards the 4th hour.  oh well on to the next I guess.. man it will really suck if once again all my labs are normal. Back to the drawing board if that happens I guess.... dumb..

I am all kinds of confused now... so I got a letter in the mail from last week stating, I would need to come in to make an appt to discuss the results of the blood work taken for the endocrinologist a few weeks ago.

I am so confused because each time I have been asked to come in to "discuss" results they have been abnormal.. BUT when I called the endocrinologists office last week the lady said they were "acceptable" wth!?!? maybe I missheard her? and she said they had been "accepted" or recieved maybe???????!?!??!?   all I know is something must of have been found because why would I need to come in to discuss the results if they were normal? ya know? I dont know what the heck.. soooo I made an appt with my family doc to talk about those results here on thursday November 12th.. so confused. I will keep you all posted....
