My illness  (Read 1142 times)

Hello All,
My name is Steve and i would like to share my long term undiagnosed illness issue.
I am 43 years old and have been suffering this problem on and off for many years, of which it has really escalated in the last few years.
The main symptoms are recurrent mouth ulcers and infections.
It generally starts off with a rash on my arm or tenderness on my face and temple or a stomach upset, then the mouth ulcers set in (sometimes up to 5-10 mouth ulcers), tenderness and pain on the bridge of my mouth, massive headaches, sore muscles & joints and terrible fatigue.
I usually get this about 4-5 times a year and it usually lasts about a month on each occasion.
During the year i also have a lot of similar problems but the duration is a lot less.
This all means that i am generally unwell for over 6 months a year and therefore have no quality of life.
I have had every blood test possible, food allergy tests, and seen GP's, infectious diseases specialists, chinese herbalists, naturopaths, homeopaths etc etc for very little result.
The only thing that has given me any respite have been colonic irrigations albeit brief.
If anyone out there suffers similar symptoms or has any suggestions i would love to hear from them.
Regards Steve

I Will Be Diagnosed !

 welcome to the forum Steve

Sorry if this has been covered over the years but ............... I'm going to ask a hundred and one questions just in case something helps  Smile

Have the ulcers ever been biopsied ?
Do you wear dentures/falses  ?
Have you ever been tested for Shingles ?

I'll try my best to research for you too, if something pops up I'll let you know

Hi Samantha and thanks for the reply and welcome,

First to answer your questions

1 Yes i have had the ulcers swabbed which came back clean.
2 No i do not wear dentures...Have a full set of teeth, go to the dentist twice a year
3 I do believe i have been tested for Shingles but will check that out again thanks.

It is not so much the mouth ulcers, it is the sickness and unwell feeling associated with all this..The headaches, painful mouth infections, stomach upsets, swollen neck glands, sore muscles, aching joints, terrible fatigue, loss of weight etc etc

The other thing i never mentioned is that i lead a healthy lifestyle with an adequate diet.
I have never smoked, rarely drink alcohol, eat a lot of fruit & Veg, and my weight of 73kg is in proportion of my height which is 177cm.
Every chance i can, i walk, play golf, do push ups and swim..Problem is when i get sick i have not got the energy to do these things.

The only positive diagnosis i have ever received is 'fibromyalgia', but when i went to see the specialist for this she could not explain the other symptoms i have also :confused005
Regards Steve
