Whoopee! He gave it a name other than IAIYH! aggressive

I don't believe it covers everything. I asked him why he came up with this and he said because of my history - he had read where other doctors said IAIYH. I asked him what he saw that made him think that. He told me he never saw what happened to my arm with my elbow flexed and he pulled on my wrist in his life before. I have been reading up on somatization disorder and I am not convinced. I have one other doctor working on my case. This will be the last one I see. I have had it. My PCP is the most compassionate and not at all judgmental. He calmly explained things. We talked. I gave him the spasms might be but I don't believe the rest of my issues fit. The doctor told me it will be difficult for my PCP to know what to pursue because I do have some diagnosed problems such as small fiber neuropathy - obtained by a skin biopsy - only done due to my complaining of the pain, atrial fib - found because I asked for an event monitor for a month and he saw it on paper, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis - proven by a biopsy. Now he didn't mention fibromyalgia probably because it can't be proved with a test but is a cause of pain, numbness, and weakness, which are included as having to be one of four things to complete the dx of somatization disorder. I guess it really doesn't matter. I have become use to most everything but the pain in my foot from three surgeries in the same spot - which one doctor is sending me to pain management as she feels I have RSD. I need some relief so I can do things without dealing with the pain as well. I still do them because who else is going to and I want to. I use a power chair in the house and crutches outside. Have been up in the air about building a ramp as I am hoping this foot pain will be gone soon. The crutches are a pain and a nuisance. I am tired of them after four years. Sorry for the long message. Got carried away!

I'd be rather annoyed at this conclusion..........

Description:
This is a psychiatric diagnosis applied to patients who chronically and persistently complain of varied physical symptoms that have no identifiable physical origin. One common general etiological explanation is that internal psychological conflicts are unconsciously expressed as physical signs. Patients with Somatization Disorder will typically visit many doctors trying to get the treatment they think they need. However, it must be remembered that this behaviour would also occur if the patient has a genuine physical condition that previous physicians have failed to diagnose. The first step for a physician must be to take the patient's claims seriously and consider if their symptoms match any known condition.

If your heart and soul are saying NO WAY then keeping pushing, I know how hard it is but don't settle just becasue they've put a name to it, if you feel they've got it wrong they most likely have, after all your the one dealing with the pain and symptoms..

based on that summary of what it is.... I too would not be satisfied with this diagnosis. I am sure if that is the case that more than a few doctors have diagnosed this for me as well. Keep trying to find your answers because I don't think this is the one your looking for.
