My cat is missing  (Read 1135 times)

Hey all.. I am down in the dumps today.
My cat that I rescued in late 2005 ,Craig, went missing today, this morning around 9 am. The back door was pushed open by the wind this morning leading into the backyard. Usually it would be no big deal but my husband left my 11 month old German Shepherd, Bella unattended outside in the back for too long yesterday and she dug a hole under the fencing, enough for Craig to get out.
 Cry Cry Cry

While he does not have a collar he is micro chipped but as far as I know we don't have the current info for that micro chip since it was in 2005 but I to be honest don't know how that all works. I walked around the entire neihborhood several times and he is no where to be found. He got outside one other time and was only gone for an hour, I called him and I heard him meowing two houses down and he came right to me. Today.. no such luck. I searched up and down for an hour or more and then I even took Bella with me. She is obsessed with that cat so all I have to tell her is "find the kitty" and she usually will. That however didnt work either.
My husband doesnt even like craig that much, so he tells me "he will be fine." or.. "he will come back"  he is my lil shadow followed by Bella. I can call him... he follows me everywhere, like a small dog. He sleeps with me at night too. *sigh*

He is about 4 years old, nuetured male black and brown american short hair and egyptian mua mix, he is slim but muscular cat, he wieghs about 16 lbs. He does scare easily. He doesnt really like strangers :/   only me. So I dont imagine that he will just walk right up to some person meowing like most cats would. He is just not freindly like that, only with me he is.  He is an indoor cat and some what skittish... I am HOPING that cars will scare him and that he will avoid them or be fast enough to avoid them   Cry

I know he has only been missing for 11 hours but I am very broken up about it. He has never lived outside and like I said he is skittish of strangers. I am hoping as he gets hungry he will either find his way back for food or will go to someones house and they will hopefully not keep him and turn him into the humane society that I search online for new found cats every damn hour. I am also concerned that since he is skittish that he has gotten far away. We have searched a 6 block radius up and down and in between houses, asking neihbors.

Its been hard for me, that lil guy follows me everywhere usually. So I took a shower this afternoon and I think that is when it hit me. He sits and waits for me to get out of the shower and when I got out he was not there, I broke down and started crying. I have been pretty emotional ever since then. I was then making the bed and he always gets under the covers as I am making it. Like I said he is like my lil shadow. Follows me all over, sleeps with me at night and when I am sick.  Cry so yes I am having a hard time with this. Not knowing where he is or knowing if he is ok... its awful. I live pretty close to a freeway as well and I am in a busy neihborhood  Cry Cry Cry but I am trying to think that he is too skittish to get close to the freeway or close to cars running etc...

I hope he comes home soon. I will very upset if he does not make it home soon....

I Will Be Diagnosed !

Awww Kristin I'm so sorry sweetie  Sad
Cats seem to do this alot and worry their owners..little terrors...

With the Microchip just make sure if you've moved since the cat was Micro chipped that you ring your local council (or what ever body looks after that section in your state) to confirm the correct residential address, phone etc. So if Craig does get dropped of by someone who finds him when the shelter scans him they can match the owners contact info, that info is listed on a database easily retrieved by vets/shelter etc

I'm praying he comes home soon

When all else fails, play dead!

He'll be back!
The OT who came yesterday let Lucy and Toby out the door. Lu wandered himself back in within 5mins(before I'd closed the door). Toby(my 13-14yr old big fat birman cat) came home at dinner time, he knows where the food bowl is!!

I have 10 cats right now, I'm not worried if any of them wander out, they rarely even want to wander out!
