I thought I had my psoriatic arthritis under control. I was afraid of further damage to my left index finger in particular. My Environmental Illness forced me off of the mainstream drugs including Enbrel and Methotrexate, because they drastically worsened my EI reactions and sensitivity.
I was glad to find out that glucosamine/chondritin pills, available in any vitamin aisle, did a lot to reduce my arthritis. Health-food-store typoe itms had never worked for me before. A compounding pharmacist I met on another board directed me toward ketoprofen pointment, very strong, and it's local so less in the way of systemic effects or damage. these things worked great, until recently.
Suddenly, everytrhing stopped working much. The index finger is much thicker and one joint is frozen. Jabs of pain are very distracting and I'm getting ready to yell even on my own in my apatrtment. There are plenty of other bony knobs and stiffenings too.
Before, some people were nice enough to pass along very helpful ideas. I wonder, would anyone here know of anything?

I Will Be Diagnosed !

The ketoprofen was receommeded for my dog who suffers from arthritis (late stage now so those drugs don't work) . Advised to use in early arthritic cases but no good for those who have suffered years, mostly a preventive measure. Sorry I know I'm talking about my dog here, but I'm thinking perhaps same ............ long term arthritis.. Just a thought on medications. I have recently started taking Spirulina, only early stages but it is helping my spine pain to a very small extent. Plus my restless leg.. There are so many medications and supplements, the only other thing I can think of is EMU OIL, as you are very sensitive try the lotion, have a friend who swears by it for arthritic pain. Hope your feeling a little better today :) I thought I had my psoriatic arthritis under control. I was afraid of further damage to my left index finger in particular. I highly recommend the EMU OIL to start with Jason , I have heard many success stories from friends and relatives. You should be able to get from a health food store, or try online. I thought about you again last night and there is another one to try after the EMU OIL , it's called UDO's 3-6-9 oil Ask your health food store they should stock it. I know it doesn't replace medical advice, but when we lack in getting help in this area we can only try and treat ourselves :) Thinking of you xxx Hope you see improve soon :) Thanks Samantha, I've just written those down. Are these health food store type items? Or maybe grocery/drug stores? Getting places is hard, or else I'd just go and ask without asking you.
These two treatments just stopped helping, suddenly. It wasn't a gradual thing, over several years. I'm manly concerned about losing function in my hands... the rapid change in my left index finger scares me.
I'm going to try a mush made out of gin and raisins, believe it or not... someone's suggestion.

I doubled my dose of glucosamine/chondritin pills, and it's expensive, but I seem not to be in the flare-up I was in before. I've made a list of things people reccommended but did not track them down (no car, difficult), but I'm worrying about other, worse things now.
I think I may need to tell myself that sometimes there will be a flare-up which will then recede, maybe, and maybe this is expected behavior for arthritis. Then again, if I don't keep up the double dose I backslide, so....
I've had it confirmed that Environmental Illness reactions can take the form of arthritis. So that's it. Yet another reason I needed to be out of this toxic area years and years ago.

Thats the sad part isn't it, you find something that gives some relief and the costs are way to high. :( I hope this week has been a little better for you I keep hearing about the EMU OIL more so keep in mind xxxx Samantha I doubled my dose of glucosamine/chondritin pills, and it's expensive, but I seem not to be in the flare-up I was in before.
