Hey Jenny its been a lil while. Glad you are still pushing forward for answers.  I got an endocrinology panel drawn in july and the biggest thing we found was my GH most importantly my IGF1 was super low. Its at 61 ng/ml and normal on my lab work was 117-329 ng/ml
I have an endocrinologist appt. October 15th. What sucks is my district manager has the same endo and she told me he has a horrible bedside manner so I am worried. Anyways I wanted tell ya I am glad to still see you forging a head to find an answer. Good luck to you.. I am sending positive thoughts your way.

Are you planning to see an endo?

Hey Kirstin, It's so nice to hear from you  Huge Hug
Wow, I see that you've finally found something! Congrats! October 15 is only a short ways away.. You're definately on the right track here.
Maybe since our symptoms are so similar, our tests might come out similar as well? lol
I haven't had my GH or IGF-1 checked yet. I am planning on making an appointment with my GP so I can ask to get these done. I haven't had a referal to an endo yet.. but it's definately one of the things that are on top of my list right now. I hope to get my GH levels checked and hopefully move onto an endo. I have an abdomen/pelvis CT scan tomorow morning, so I'm just getting that out of the way before I move onto my "acromegaly" hunch..lol

I Will Be Diagnosed !

Kirstin I've been told by a few people that Doctor's with "a horrible bedside manner" are usually the best one's so fingers crossed on the 15th October for you. Mind you my GP has a lovely bedside manner but can't work out my health problems  Wink

I hope this endocrinologists is the one to find my answers. While it is really nice to have some clues and things come up abnormal my doctors still have not much of a clue. What I DO know is I will need to take Growth hormone therapy replacement injections... that is what I do know... but.. otherwise we dont know why its so low nor do we know why my insulin is low as well as my reproduction hormones are low.. my cortisol levels though.. high but the answers I have gotten from that is stress. Doctors dont think I have cushing's because I really dont have barely any of the symptoms of cushings besides the elevated level of cortisol. So I dont know. I hope to find some more answers here on the 15th of october. I had been taking a medical break and it has been nice. I still have been sick and not feeling well as usual but been trying to enjoy the time I had with the hubby before he left. Now that he is gone and after the endocrinologist appt. I will be seeking answers again...

That's the trouble isn't it..........
When our blood tests on ocassion shows something abnormal (even the slightest) we hope and pray this helps the Doctors take things futher, usually they are blammed on stress etc  aggressive and not looked into anymore  Cry

Hey guys,

I'm on antidepressants now. Zoloft 50mmg. My doctor thinks that what I have is psychosomatic, and that I have anxiety. The doctor who said this seems like she genuinely cares, but I'm not sure if I agree with what she's diagnosing me with.
I don't know how I'm gonna get out of this.

Been there done that Jenny... try to hang in there hun.
I was diagnosed with anxiety depression route when i was a teenager. I took paxil and zoloft which both did not work for me at all.. really none of those antidepressants did. If I could go back 12 years I wish I could have said no and refused them. I dont feel I am depressed but rather depressed from not having a diagnosis. Everything I have had so far has also been labeled as "psychosomatic" what sucks is once you get that diagnosis written in paper its hard to escape it. Its hard to get new doctors to listen. What also angers me is anxiety is a SYMPTOM of other things. NOT the other way around like they want you to believe. So please hang in there.... make sure you do lots of research on the antidepressants. I wish I would have. They just did not work for me and absolutely did nothing for my anxiety ever and I stuck them out too for atleast 7months to a year with each new antidepressant.

I am sorry to hear of this "diagnosis" but your not alone. Its all too common for us to be labeled that after the doctors give up on doing anymore leg work....

on a quest for health

Jenny, your symptoms sound like they are very typical of ADDISON"S disease! if the doctors have not actually tested you for this they are fucking idiots. I really sympathise with being labeled a hypercondriac! and that look they give you like "oh god i have to listen to this paranoid hysterical women's crapping on about her imaginary illness"! it's really crushing and honestly it's just lazy medical practice, they can't be bothered doing their job properly so they just label it as pshycological. I'm sorry i missed whether you have seen an endocrinologist or not but i think you REALLY need to do not take no for an answer, i think you have some type of endocrine malfunction. I have been doing alot a anatomy study, The more you understand about the body the better i think. I also printed a list of every single autoimmune disease and have been ruling things out one by one. This is tedious and confusing, often you go around in circles because autoimmune diseases cause other autoimmune diseases and they present with different symptoms in all people that have them. But i feel through my research is giving me a much greater understanding of the body, and bringing me closer and closer to finding an answer. I would recommend this course of action to anyone suffering undiagnosed illness because most doctors are lazy, it's like they work so hard to get through med school they feel like they shouldn't have to lift a finger for the rest of their lives.

just because doctors give up on you does not mean you should give up on yourself!!
