Tired..

So, i just got off the phone with another doctor for my 19th opinion :P anyway, he definately thinks that it is acquired porphyria.  thinks everything is acquired from some kind of toxin.  so, he wants me checked for heavy metal poisoning.

i now have another round of tests (blood, urine and hair) coming in the next few days to check for mercury, arsenic, uranium, etc...

he said even if nothing shows up, he believes it is some kind of toxin, and there are broad spectrum treatments for toxins.  which i might be able to start in two weeks!

:)

thanks :)

well, acquired is different from hereditary forms.  a person with hereditary porphyria basically means theres a defect in the enzyme pathway, but symptoms are in remission until there is a trigger.  like alcohol, drugs, etc.  and typically the same trigger each time for a particular person

however, acquired means that something else has built up in the system that is adversely affecting normal systems.  basically making acquired porphyria a symptom, rather than a disease

which makes sense because while i do have many symptoms of porphyria, the cloudyness does not seem to be a part of it.  and it took a very long time to progress to include all those symptoms.  according to my new doctor he believes that "it was a build up of toxins, at first your kidneys and liver could filter them fine, which is why you were cloudy every time to begin with.  gradually it became harder and other symptoms began to develop.  eventually it effected them enough to cause not just porphyria, but an entire list of abnormal test results"

i have an entire book it seems full of abnormal tests.  but nothing substantial enough to cause the problems i'm having, but the fact remains they shouldnt be abnormal at all.  which means there has to be something that is able to effect all of the systems.

I know the difference between acquired and hereditary...hereditary means passed from parent to child, it doesn't necessarily mean it shows up in each generation with symptoms(my parents had blood tests and so did my brother and sisters, my brother and youngest sister fainted! It was concluded that no hereditary problems that could've caused my problems was passed on).
Acquired is something that's caused either during or after birth. It could possibly cause problems in your offspring, but the problem didn't start genetically.
Any ideas what can cause the porphyria and the cloudyness? It could also be the source of any 'normal' symptoms of porphyria, meaning any symptom may have 2 causes?

Goosh, this is a confusing one! Jas, be proud, you're not normal! If you're doing the same thing as everyone else, what makes you so special??
