Fibromyalgia and Major Depression.  (Read 2527 times)

Hey guys. I went to the doc today and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Major Depression.

Answers! Ok, at least partway. I am still scheduled for the laproscopy in February regarding the pelvic pain.

I have to take a class on Monday, 4 hours over at the hospital on how to deal with the Firbro. I also have to call and get with a Psychiatrist regarding the depression and sleep problems.

It's not a great diagnosis, but it's a starting point!

When all else fails, play dead!

WOW!
Great stuff!!

One question, why do you have to take a class? I never went to a class on how to live with an undiagnosed illness, I learnt it myself because I'm too chook crap to commit suicide.
The class should be more about giving support to people with fibro, and you're not going through it alone. How can anyone expect to know what fibromyalgia's like without living with it, and they can't expect you to learn from their mistakes without you trusting in them and trusting in their support.

The class is about how to cope with the fibro, and how to learn to live with it, since there is not a "cure" and it is for life. It's also a group class, so there will be several of us in there together, all of us freshly dx'd.

I am trying to teach myself how to say NO to people and not to overdo things. I am trying to swallow my pride and ask when I need help, but I've always been fiercely independent, so that's a tough one for me.

I did order a mobility aid, a walking cane, and that should arrive Wednesday. That will help me save some energy, AND it will let people pyysically SEE that I am not 100% healthy. Somewhat embarassing and it galled me a bit to suck it up and admit I need it but... well, I do need it.

I Will Be Diagnosed !

Wow Scarlett, you not long ago posted new symptoms and I said you had all signs of Fibromyalgia and here you are diagnosed so quick  Big Grin
I would be very interested to hear how your glass goes, as I also have Fibromyalgia and just have to deal with it.

While this is really great news to finally receive a diagnoses, Fibromyalgia is life altering and at such a young age I'm praying the doctors find something else that's curable.

Good for you deciding on a cane, anything that alleviates the pain is a god send

xxxx

I was dx with fibro in 1985. They have learned so much since then and a few doctors actually believe it exists. I read the other day that they have now determined it to be a problem with the central nervous system. I was happy to read that as that is what's been giving me most of my problems. Due to med problems I manage with just baclofen, lunesta, klonopin, and ultram PRN. I also use massage and see an osteopath. Good stuff.

It's good to take classes. Hope you learn positive stuff.
