Hi guys, sorry  have been MIA all week... but Monday night/Tuesday morning, after having a total bitch of a day... it got worse. Yes, worse. As I was sitting awake, resarching medical journals etc... someone broke into my apartment and attacked me.

A guy came in, grabbed me from behind, and started smacking me in the face with his hands, demanding to know where the money was. I don't have any money... He demanded to know if there was no money, where was the product. What bloody product?!? When he did not get the answers he wanted, he slammed my head into the wall and I blacked out.

When I came to, my apartment was trashed, everything in complete disarray. Knocked over tables, dressers, lamps, drawers dumped out and tossed around. And I was bound. My hands behind my back and my ankles tied with rope and a rag stuffed in my mouth with a bandana tied across my face to hold it in place.

I managed to get the gag off and find my phone to call for help.

The police were total assholes. They treated me like I was a suspect, not a victim! They wouldn't even let me have a cigarette in my own home before taking me to the ER for cat scans and x-rays!!

The paramedics one was great the other a dick. He velcroed my hair to the belts, taped my head and my hair to the back board, and put me too high on the backboard so every bump they hit the plastic was digging into my head. The nice one, Steve, kept talking to me and held my hand until we got to the ER.

I have a mild concussion, rope burns, various bruises but no major damage. I was very lucky. The guys could have done so much worse. I was frusterated because I was in pain from my other, but the docs would not give me any pain meds because there's "nothing wrong".  Hits on Head Bastards! And I didn't have my purse, so I couldn't take anything of my own.

The thing that sucks the most is I am prety sure they meant to break into the flat below me - drug dealers but I can not prove it. And me? I live in a secure building where you have to be buzzed in... I had left my door unlocked. I'll not be making that mistake again!!! The cops think that he came in the fire escape, they popped the lock with a pocket knife in about 5 seconds.

So, I moved. Same complex, but a different building, different floor, different layout of apartment. I took the rest of the week off work. I just now got cable and internet back, and I wanted to let you all know I was ok, especially as it is not like me to drop off for days at a time, and we had that, er, morbid thread that I started last week.

Anyhow.... I'm here. Sore and a wee bit frightened, but alive.

Nothing I can think to say except that you seem tough, which is good.  I mean, you can get the details down this well; I'm not saying it wasn't horrible for you.   I wish you could just move out of whatever city you're in.   I wonder if they were told the wrong apt. number by the neighbor, to divert the attack from them onto you, or if the name labels on mailboxes were switched.

Hope your doing ok now, what an awful thing to happen.
I don't know what else to say other than I hope the cops catch him and punish him.

Keep all doors and windows locked in future. Do you live by yourself?
I'm surprised no one came to help, You'd think someone would have heard your screams ?? so much for neighbors hey

Anyway sweety I so hope your ok

I am okay, mostly. Yes, I live alone. So much for my killer attack cats coming to the rescue, huh? LOL The useless beasties were cowering under the bed!

I am now totally OCD about making sure everything is locked, I check like a million times a day now. These apartments are really soundproof. Unless you have windows open, you can't hear outside and unless you are standing at my door you won't hear anything in my apartment. It's great because I can turn up my music or (hopefully one day...) have really loud sex and no one will bitch! However, it is bad because no one heard me scream. And I only screamed once, I was just in shock thinking "what the...?" I was very confused. I had taken some meds and so I was kinda fuzzy anyhow.

Things you don't think about until it happens to you are how sore you are after from being bound. Having arms behind you back for a couple hours makes everything hurt - your shoulders, your biceps, your sides, under your breasts, your lower back, your neck... and the rope burns suck. I have deep bruises, the kind that hurt like mad when you touch them but do not show on the surface. I have lots of random bruises on my legs from where the guy must have grabbed me to tie me up. Some are finger sized and shaped, showing proof of being grabbed.

I am just glad that they didn't stab or shoot or rape me, you know?It could have been far worse, and I was very lucky.

Also odd...

the only thing taken was my cash, about $50.

I have several thousand dollars worth of jewelry, diamond rings and the like from my grandmother. None of those were taken. Nothing was broken either.

Also, my meds were not touched. Those have serious alue on the street, but they were still there.

Sounds like they had the wrong house (as you mentioned) they were looking for something specific.

Well, sort of. I have several swords, and a very large walking staff that I know how to use as a weapon. I don't keep guns though, and by the time I realized what was going on, there was not time to do anything to really protect myself. Also, although I did not see a weapon on the guy, if I had fought back I wonder if he would have done worse to me??
